In this article I am looking at stories of trusting your gut instinct and getting confirmation in the dream state. These are stories of people who obeyed their instinct and achieved the unimaginable, or were saved during a crisis.
"Gut instinct" (also called intuition or a gut feeling) is the immediate sense that something is right or wrong without consciously analyzing it.
It's called a "gut" instinct because people often experience it as a physical feeling in their stomach or body, even though the processing happens in the brain. However, sometimes some people take it a step further to get confirmation in their dreams before committing to a set course of action.
The first story was my story. Although I obeyed my gut, my confidence was boosted after I had a confirmation in a dream.
Some years ago I had a very important engagement to fulfill in Lagos, Nigeria, but didn't have the money to make it to Lagos. As I looked for money to embark on the journey, I became distraught and disappointed as it became clearer every passing day that I won't be able to get the money for the cost of transportation to Lagos and back to Warri, a distance of about 397km. But, from the beginning, I could recognize this quiet voice associated with a strong feeling telling me that all would be well, that I should proceed to Lagos when it was time for me to go. But, each time my rational reasoning will set in, saying, don't be silly, how can you go to Lagos without a dime in your pocket, who have you seen embarked on such a suicidal mission? However, I braced the odds and decided to trust my gut. On the day of the trip, I carried my bag and decided to embark on the suicidal mission. On getting to Effurun roundabout, without money except with the assurance from my instinct, I started walking toward Sapele, another transit town on the way to Lagos. After walking for some time, doubts began to creep in, but each time I would push it aside, checking to see if the assurance and confirmation I got from my dream was still there.
I was resolute and believed strongly that a miracle would happen. As I kept walking, as if by a stroke of luck the miracle happened. A car behind me started hooting its horn ruthlessly. I was embarrassed, at the same time angered by the horn, even after I had shifted clearly away from the road. The lone driver apparently, trying to get my attention, drove to where I was and beckoned on me to come and he asked if I was going to Lagos. I couldn't believe my ears, though I answered in the affirmative albeit with some hesitation. When he noticed my hesitation, he went ahead to explain that he came to town for a meeting and was going back to Lagos where he resides and had been praying to God to send a companion to accompany him in the long journey. That was when he saw me and decided to ask. Needless to say, that was one of the best days of my life. As I highlighted in Lagos, this dude gave me some good amount of money in appreciation for being a good companion. I have experienced many similar miracles since I learned to obey and follow my intuition, as well as dream guidance.
However, my confidence to embark on this journey was based on a confirmation I had in a dream.
While preparing for the trip I dreamed I was traveling in a yellow bus called Danfo, in Lagos. The color of commercial buses in Lagos is yellow. Seeing myself traveling in a yellow intracity bus means I was already in Lagos.
My second story was about a lady named Joan, at the time she was a University student in Nigeria. Those days in Nigeria Universities, there used to be incessant rival cult clashes. These clashes usually resulted in injuries and death of students caught in harm's way. On this particular day, Joan was already in class having just concluded the first lecture of the day. There was a one hour gap before a second lecture was scheduled to begin. All of a sudden she began feeling uneasy with her instinct telling her to forego the next class and return home immediately. She promptly obeyed, packed her books and headed for the door. Class friends tried to convince her to stay, but she politely declined and went home. At home she was angry as she couldn't find the reason why she had left class. It was at this point that news got to her that a serious cult clash is ongoing, many students and teachers were trapped in classrooms as cult members go from classrooms to classrooms looking for rivals and arch enemies to settle scores with. Joan was spared this trauma and ordeal because she obeyed her gut instinct. Although, some weeks before the incident in school, she had a dream where she was being chased by fierce looking creatures, as they were about to get her, she was lifted from the ground to the sky far away from her assailants. Just then she woke up from sleep. As someone who pays attention and works with her dreams, she is always alert to her nudges and what they are trying to tell her. If she hadn't obeyed her gut instinct, the dream would have played out in class.
My third story is about a guy I will call Henry who followed his gut instinct to invest in a little known Fintech startup.
A mutual friend had told him about the startup whose founder was their mutual friend in the University and was looking for early funding from friends and family members who are willing to take the risk of investing their money in a company which at the time was yet to secure the necessary license and permit from the government.
Prior to this time, he met a man in the dream state who handed him a puzzle box as a gift with a piece of paper containing the instructions on how to open the box. After working the box for a while he succeeded in opening it. Inside were diamonds and gold of different sizes. As he was dancing and shouting with joy, he woke up. He interpreted this to mean a great fortune would come his way.
Although afraid to part with his life's savings, he was convinced by a strong instinct and the memory of his dream that this little-known startup is going to become a billion dollar company.
He took the risk, joined forces with his friends and committed his resources. A few years later he was grateful to God for obeying his gut feeling. The Fintech startup is now a $3 billion company.
